What the value score measures
- 45% — cover per rupee: IDV divided by premium, relative to the best quote.
- 40% — add-ons: weighted by how much they usually matter (zero-dep, engine protection and RTI weigh most; key and tyre cover least).
- 15% — deductible: a lower voluntary deductible scores higher.
The score is a starting point. It cannot see an insurer’s claim service, cashless garage network near you or how its add-ons are worded — check those before you pay.
Renewal red flags the tool checks
- Different NCB across quotes. Your NCB moves with you; every insurer should apply the same percentage.
- IDV spread above 10%. A lower IDV makes a quote look cheaper while cutting your theft and total-loss payout.
- Cheapest isn’t best. If the cheapest quote is not the top-scoring one, the tool tells you by how much.
